Botox & Fillers
Injectable dermal fillers can enhance shallow contours, soften facial creases, fill in wrinkles and improve the appearance of recessed scars.
Juvéderm®, Belotero® and Radiesse®
Juvéderm® and Belotero® injectables contain hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance developed to treat certain types of wrinkles and minor skin depressions. The material can be used to fill scars, including acne scard, on the face and to fill deep wrinkles on the eyelids, tear troughs, cheeks, and lips.
The procedure is done in the office and may require local anesthesia so the material will not hurt while going into the skin. The procedure typically takes fifteen minutes. Ice should be applied afterwards. Make-up can be applied whenever desired. Bruising is expected for three to seven days after the procedure. The procedures are typically repeated every six to twelve months. Touch-up injections may be needed after a few weeks. Several types of synthetic collagen are available on the market, including Restylane and Juvederm®. Dr. Linder can discuss which product is right for you.
We also offer Radiesse®, which is a denser injectable used to plump the skin. It is injected through a small needle placed under the skin. This filler works immediately to add volume under the skin. The benefits of Radiesse® continue by stimulating your own body's natural collagen. The results generally last one year. This filler is frequently used over the cheek bones or around the mouth area.
BOTOX®
If you are interested in limiting the development of wrinkles in problem areas (forehead, crow’s feet, or between the brows), then you may be a candidate for BOTOX® (Botulinum Toxin) injections. This medicine is injected into the muscles that lie beneath the skin surface. When a muscle is injected, it is unable to contract and cause winkles.
Following the injections, the skin overlying the muscle tends to smooth and finer wrinkles may completely disappear. The effects of the injection last for three to four months. At the end of that time, the BOTOX® wears off, and muscle activity returns. Some patients choose to undergo a series of two to four injections, after which, muscle activity may remain reduced and the creases diminished. The best result is to repeat the injections very three to four months.
The procedure takes approximately fifteen minutes. Topical anesthesia is placed on the skin before the procedure. As little as three to fifteen injections are made depending on the areas treated. Patients should expect some bruising, but there is essentially no down time.
